How to Provide Multiple Starter bars in Footings in Tekla Structures

Tekla Structures is a Building Information Modeling (BIM) software able to model structures that incorporate different kinds of building materials, including steel, concrete, timber and glass. However it is widely used for the detailing of structural drawing. 

In this blog, we are going to discuss how to provide multiple starter bars in footings in Tekla Structures. 

So let's start the step by step procedure.


Step 1: Before placing starter bars must verify that all footings and columns are placed properly.  



Step 2: Go to the application and component section in search bar type 87 i.e. app 87(Stater bar for footing).


 

NOTE: Sometimes applications are not visible then click on Show hidden items.




Step 3: Define all the parameters of the app 87 by double clicking on it then make required changes.




Step 4: To select all the footings at once make a front view of the entire model then select all the footings by dragging from left to right.



Step 5: Starter bars will be provided automatically. 



Step 6: Go to the view section click on the rendering part and select parts shaded wireframe to verify the changes.


Step 7: At last we should check all the footing sections that all the starter bars are properly placed in position or not.

How to Provide Reinforcement in Multiple Footings in Tekla Structures

In this blog, we are going to discuss how to provide reinforcement in multiple footings in Tekla Structures. 

So let's start the step by step procedure.


Step 1: At first make sure all your footings are placed properly. 



Step 2: In the application and component section look for app no. 77



Step 3: Define all the parameter of the application by double clicking on the application and make required changes. 



Step 4 : Go the the front view of the model and select all the footings by dragging the mouse from left to right.



Step 5: Reinforcement will be provided in all the footings at once. 



Step 6: To verify change the view to Parts shaded wireframe.



Step 7: Last check is to verify if reinforcement is properly arranged in the footing or not.

So let's start the step by step procedure.


Step 1: Login to Tekla warehouse with your Trimble account.




Step 2: In the search bar look for the desired content



Step 3: This will give you a bunch of options to choose from as per your requirements.



Step 4: You can use filters to customize your search. This will narrow down your options and the you can easily pick one that you want. 



Step 5: Once you finalize your content/application all you have to do is to click on it and then click on download.



Step 6: Once your download is completed you can install it and restart your Tekla Structures.

Tekla Structural Designer || RC Beam Rise and Drop ||Slab Rise and Drop

 Tekla Structural Designer (TSD) is a simple, integrated design & analysis software that enables engineers to deliver safe, effective and rationalized design more quickly, regardless of structural material. Reinforcement drawings for the entire building or tonnes of steel for estimating, all available in the touch of a button.

A Beam is a Key structural member of any building, and for various purposes a particular amount of rise or drops are given to beams, like for architectural purposes, for providing sunken slab etc.

Lets find out the Step wise, procedure of Providing Rise and Drop to Beams in Tekla Structural Designer.



Step 1: Go to the Level of the Beam for which you want to provide the rise and drop. Select the Beam.


Step 2: Select the Center Node and drag it to the Portion to which you want to cut or Split. The beam ca be now selected in 2 parts.


Note: For cutting or splitting we can use construction lines if required.

Step 3: Select the Beam, in the properties menu change to "Cast in Place Concrete Spans", after that you will be able to select one part of the beam. Select one part of the beam.


Step 4: Under the option of Alignment in the properties box, provide the desired vertical offset, if you provide a vertical value then it will move upwards, and if you provide a negative value then it will move downwards, hence the rise or drop will be successfully applied.



Step 5: After applying the rise or drop you may use the same method for beam part selection as mentioned earlier and change the depth of the beam part so that the soffit or the bottom of the beam remains flush or along the same level.

Tekla Structural Designer: Cutting Planes || Cutting Sections in TSD Model

 Tekla Structural Designer (TSD) is a simple, integrated design & analysis software that enables engineers to deliver safe, effective and rationalized design more quickly, regardless of structural material. Reinforcement drawings for the entire building or tonnes of steel for estimating, all available in the touch of a button.

Lets Find out of the procedure of using Cutting Planes in Tekla Structural Designer (TSD), Cutting planes help us to view a particular section and make changes to that, it can be very useful, especially in large building models.



Stated Below is a Stepwise procedure for Using Cutting Planes option in Tekla Structural Designer (TSD).

Step 1: Open the Building Model in which you want to use the command, Open the 3D view of the Structure, Under the edit menu click on the option of "Cutting Planes".



Step 2: Select on the plane which you want to move, with the help of a mouse single click. Mouse Left Click again on the 3D Arrow which appears on the plane, and then you will be able to move the plane as per your preference.






Step 3: After moving the plane to the desired potion, click on escape to view the cut section of the structure.

Tekla Structural Designer: How to Apply Bracings || Design of Bracings

Tekla Structural Designer (TSD) is a simple, integrated design & analysis software that enables engineers to deliver safe, effective and rationalized design more quickly, regardless of structural material. Reinforcement drawings for the entire building or tonnes of steel for estimating, all available in the touch of a button.


We are going to learn in this writeup, how to create bracings in Tekla Structural Designer (TSD). Bracings can be defined as slender crisscross members which provide support to other members.



Step 1: Open a New File, Create the construction Levels according to your preference of the structure you are going to make.



Step 2: Create the Gridlines, as per your positions of your Columns and Beams

Step 3: Go to any level, lets take "Base" , and then assign Columns, beams. Assign Beams in Level 1 as well.

Step 4: Assign the Braces




Step 5: Reassign the Load combinations if you had already defined loads earlier, or you can assign any set of loads you want.

Step 6: Click on "Design all Static". The design of the structure will be ready.
